Thank you AAPL and NVDA
I am finding myself at a stage where I have no interest left in Tech. Dont have interest in picking up a new tech skill or anything cool thats happening around (GenAI, ML, etc). I had a successful career so far, but now I have been asked to find something new (which I am not motivated to). I do have a family to feed, my wife and a 4 year old daughter. - If I stay here, I dont know how will we survive. My wife doesnt earn much. Even if I start a business it will take years for it to establish. I have a home loan of $800k that I need to pay, etc - My ex manager at Microsoft is offering me to join his team as a manager in India (still need to go through the interview rounds and all). If I go back, I can sell my house here and will have savings of approx $150k, I have a paid off flat in India where I can live with my family and be able to maintain our lifestyle there. I am confused if I should take the risk of staying here or should packup and go back to India. Thoughts?
It seems like you made enough to have a decent life back in India. USA is going down and getting crazier by the minute... As long as you can provide good opportunities for you children in India, why would to stay in USA? Settle down.
You need a vacation, dont make a permanent decision on those emotions
I am cautious not to make an emotional decision, but I figure I have about 3 months max before I am asked to leave. With my savings I can only sustain for another 2-3 months, after that I would need to start defaulting on my loan without another good paying job
Vacation doesn’t do shit. Overrated “advice “
If all you are taking back to India is 150k its not the best move right now. Grind some more years as long as you can and then move to India when you no longer can be outside and have good cash. Look for manager roles here. Only reason you could move to India right now is if Microsoft can send you back as a manager at some point, or is offering a wow package
Thats what I was planning to, but have been asked to look elsewhere now. Have been trying to look for manager roles here but not able to land anything unfortunately
Yes market is tough. You can always come back if you have to look elsewhere now. If moving to India Microsoft is the best option you can do that but would be nice if you keep looking less intensive roles here. If you join a mid company you can get less intense work, and FAANG experience is desirable. Less pay than Big tech but still more than India.
Ummm… sorry but that does not sound like a successful career in the USA. You are making a right move by moving to India 👍
Not wildly successful, but currently earning $450k pa, I call that successful for me
I don't know what successful is, but working in big tech is top 5% maybe ???
returningindians.com They helped me get a good idea for planning my return to india. Avan’s consultancy helped us clear and map out a lot of things and got a clear picture.
What is z”asked to look elsewhere” mean ?
It’s Amazon way to say GTFO in a nice way.
Age. if you don't mind
38 years
It sounds like moving home is ideal for you. You need to leave Amazon, the US job market is horrible, and you likely have a Microsoft offer in India (along with a paid off place to live). I don't know your visa status, but you cannot start a business on an H1B. If Microsoft comes through with an offer, take it and don't look back.

500k including the indian flat? If it's excluding, it should be enough.
