Hi, I'll be switching from Amazon US to Google India in September. Google has connected me to Cartus for shipping my stuff back. I found that I'll need to pay custom duty on TV and other electronic devices when shipping as they won't be duty-free even in case of "Transfer of residency". My question is, does Google reimburses the custom duty? TC: 270K
Sell and buy in India. Power variation for electronics is not ideal. You might end up burning few electronics. With 1.2cr TC, you can buy top of the line electronics in India
Yeah, that's what I'll do if I have to pay the duty.
TVs with duty also cost cheaper in us than india.
Are you moving to Hyderabad India? To answer your question, Google generally reimburses extra cost as well.
Yes, moving to Hyderabad. Thanks for the info buddy!!
Lol, it's pretty common and it's at the lower end. I have seen L5s getting 1.8 with counter offers
1.8 must be down level with strong competing offers, if at all. 1 cr is still quite high for L5. May be because you are coming from USA and they might have offered stocks according to us band.
Buy everything in big billion sale !!
I can buy there, but I just want to avoid the hassle of selling my stuff here. Also, I have opted for relocation so might as well ship them.
Custom duty for used tv shouldn't be that much. You can search for rules online.
Why are you moving back ?
Family reasons
What family reason? Will you come back again to US ?
Did you interview for Google US or India?
I interviewed for Google India but the interviews were in US timezone so they were given by people working in Google US
"my precious" TV and electronics!
Congrats, best decision.
Thanks
