Relocating to Neighborhoods around the Bellevue Area

I’m relocating to the Bellevue area at the end of the month. We’re still looking for a place to live. Do you all have any pointers on specific neighborhoods? We’re leaning towards finding a place in Bothell or Lynnwood.

Neither bothell or Lynwood are the “Bellevue area” , expect 1 hour+ commute from Lynwood

Right right my bad, I should’ve said working in the Bellevue.

Microsoft Nyuf02 Jul 2, 2018

If you’re open to public transit, northgate to Bellevue transit is about 30 mins on the 555

Are you indian or chinese? If not, stay away from bothell. We dont like outsiders.

Sandia National Laboratories pepenador OP Jul 2, 2018

Neither, I’m Mexican :( I hope this isn’t 100% accurate

Microsoft SalKhan Jul 2, 2018

This is not true. There is a big Indian population in Bothell, but there is no hostility towards others. Bothell is a very nice place to live.

Bellevue area? You mean neighborhoods around Bellevue? If so, then north of 98004 and south of 98033 are the best. If you're looking for renting, you should be fine, but if you're looking for buying a house, then you can't find anything below 1M.

Thanks!

Issaquah highlands, Klahanie, Sammamish. Also Redmond (I.e. education hill, Rose Hill) Kirkland.

Thanks!

Microsoft Nyuf02 Jul 2, 2018

Not with a $500k budget , I wouldn’t bother looking at these areas

Apple Sharingan Jul 2, 2018

Buying or renting? Stay away from the factoria area since traffic gets horrendous

Amazon CopsInKent Jul 2, 2018

What's your budget and family size

Sandia National Laboratories pepenador OP Jul 2, 2018

Family of three. Budget 400-500k

Amazon CopsInKent Jul 2, 2018

Whoa that's tough. Do you care about the age of the house? I have some ideas but only if you are cool with pre 2000s

Nielsen DrSpark Jul 2, 2018

Lynnwood is a good area with reasonable apt prices. There’s an express sound transit bus between Lynnwood and Bellevue Transit center.

Sandia National Laboratories pepenador OP Jul 2, 2018

Yeah that’s why we were considering that area. It seems like there’s a bus that goes from Lynnwood to Bellevue Transit center in around 40ish mins. My current commute is like 10mins but I know that’s not realistic in Washington.

Amazon CopsInKent Jul 2, 2018

Bellevue transit center is pretty well served. Plus next year Bellevue is piloting an automated bus program from surrounding areas into Bellevue. Amazon is developing the app

Kirkland is good.

Tableau attrition Jul 3, 2018

Honestly just rent and save up

Sandia National Laboratories pepenador OP Jul 3, 2018

That’s still an option but rent is still very very expensive. Houses do exist at the budget that I posted, but I’m curious what’s a more reasonable budget in your opinion? How much did you pay for your house?

Intel AntHuh Jul 3, 2018

You have to accept one fact: Bellevue house price grows faster than your salary

Microsoft Nyuf02 Jul 3, 2018

Depends if you want “turn key move in ready” or not. Lynwood (and north) you can still get in under 550k, burien and south (don’t live south traffic is much worse). You’re not getting anywhere close to Bellevue for under $1million
