Currently scheduling my final interview for a Google role, overall feeling confident but have one big concern. Originally I applied to a few remote roles and received word from a sourcer on a different role (which is not remote and in a different city) but I continued with the interview process anyhow without mentioning anything. It has not been brought up again and I have been honest on my location during interviews and forms. I do not plan on relocating for this role, how accurate and important is the role location on the job listing? Will I be able to stay my ground and make this role remote if I complete the process? There is a Google office in my city just not listed on this role, team is not located there. Role is in gtech side of the business. Current TC: approx 250k
In my experience (new hire starting in a couple weeks) your recruiter will confirm your preferred location prior to team matching and you'll only have fit meetings with teams that are compatible, regardless of what specific role you originally applied for. It's up to that team to decide whether they'd consider a remote candidate, but there are often lots of teams with openings, so even if that specific role is on-site only in that particular location, you may find something you like as much that's fully remote or in your local office. Obligatory: Technical writer LOE: 7+ Old TC (Sr TW): ~94k New TC (L4): ~$230k
Where are you getting $230k for TW? I got offer from Amazon Robotics and was around $140-165k. This is L5
I am wondering if the recruiter is deferring to team matching and based on the team.
