kbskb Mar 5SDET is not a dead end career. There are plenty of companies where the role is technical requiring good software engineering skills. It can be a misunderstood role that often gets interpreted as writing tests. Writing tests is a small part of what SDETs do and the role can vary across teams and companies.
Look into SRE and try to transfer your skillset there
One of the most bullshit role out there. Avoid SRE. It’s not even close to SWE as SDET.
