Would you stay at a job that is chill but pays $150k that has little career progression or take a leap of faith and join Amazon and risk being pipped for approx $250k (L5)? More context - Never worked for FAANG or a big tech. Most recognizable place you’ve been is Verizon. Already have GC TC 150k at 5yoe
I make 300k as an L5 at Amazon and I work like 8 hours a week. Been L5 for over 5 years. Have optimized for how I can be an HV3 L5 with the least amount of hours worked, rather than aim for career progression In other words, you can certainly have an easy life as an L5 in FAANG if you’re good.
Yesssssss 🎉🎉🎉
What team is that? lol I’m happy with a 40 hour weeks as long as I meet expectations at least and not be a dumpster fire. Right now I’m working like 5 hours a week for months and haven’t coded a single line in 3 months. So I started leetcoding instead
Take the Amazon job. Save as much as you can from the increased salary, (enjoy it a little as well). If we look at hiring trends, yes things are shit right now, but in 2-3 years it's likely to be better when interest rates drop. Jump then if you hate Amazon. If you get fired, you'll have some savings to sit on and a better resume.l.

Is "From the River to the Sea" So Wrong?
It's a lot of money. Each year at Amazon is 1.6 years at your current company. I despise Amazon but if you're trying to maximize money, take the offer and keep savings in reserve for when you get PIP'd. Don't think it can't happen to you no matter how skilled you think you are.
That’s what I was thinking too. I do have savings to survive more than a year it’s just the horror stories makes me second guess about working at Amazon or other pip friendly places. I’m no genius, just an average Joe. Or rather Rajesh in this case.
Each year you'll age 1.6 years too
