Seattle referral for wife

Oct 8, 2019 11 Comments

My wife is a good frontend dev, mostly focused on React. She finished bootcamp, after it joined a startup, but it has bleak future due to lack of funding. We find it quite ineffective to apply through regular channels like applying with CV through Indeed or company websites. After applying to about a hundred of them, we got only rejects or silence. I don't really know myself how to navigate this space as was only working at FB for 5+ years. Meetups aren't quite helpful either. What are the better ways to land a job? Anybody can give referral?(pm or comment for CV) How to get in contact with actual devs? Thanks!

Thanks for the advices! We had resume reviewed, no clear red flags. Some people suggest removing bootcamp experience altogether. Is it necessary? Can't think of anything else.

    Will try LinkedIn!

Sure, thanks for the advice regardless! That's why it's hard for us. Trying to put myself in employer position and don't know why I wouldn't invite such person to an interview.

      Yea. Referrals are the best.
Might be able to find something niche where job combines some linguistic requirement with dev stuff

Referrals are always best, but applying for jobs through indeed is quite effective IME. Maybe get a 2nd opinion on the resume?

    5+ years isn't "only".
Anyways referrals are always better than the alternative.

    Also try LinkedIn.

Maybe get resume reviewed if not getting any callbacks

Confused by your question a bit. She'd like to have a referral if that helps
