I know it depends on how you see your firm’s stock or on your situation ( buying a house or car). But in general what do you do when your RSU is vested. Curious as a major portion of your TC is RSUs, do you sell RSUs as soon as it vested? Also with the current m bear market for tech, has your strategy changed? #tech #finance #google #microsoft #netflix #cisco #nvidia #intel #meta #amazon #apple #salesforce
Think about it this way when RSUs vest, if you had the equivalent amount in cash would you buy your companies stock? If the answer is no, sell and diversify.
Still holding every single share
I sell at price targets not related to when it vests.
I have been holding since I started in 2014. It’s a very peachy retirement fund
Ikr? Idk why so many folks on blind recommend to sell
Why wouldn't you hold it and sell when you retire? Should be worth a lot more 20 years down the line than at IPO, right? (Unless you plan on retiring soon)
I’m not sure the odds are with you on this one. Imagine people had done this during the dot com boom, randomly chosen among the top 25 companies at the time. Some would have done very well, but I think more than half would have done very poorly. But if everyone had sold upon vesting and put into a broad market index fund, nobody would have done poorly.
What if you had Stripe vested RSUs?
Keep ESPP… sell RSU and awards on vest…
Option 4 is a false belief. There is no tax benefits to holdings vs selling on day of vest. You will pay income tax on the value of shares at vest day regardless of if you hold or sell.
Yes, but if the stock grows…. Who am I kidding.
Well G, if you sell and reinvest to some other stocks and it grows, IRS will not be kidding either!
