I have been on my plan with Verizon Wireless for almost a decade. I am currently on the Nationwide Talk 700 plan where I get unlimited data but only 700 minutes of voice and 700 total text. With a $11 device insurance charge and taxes all inclusive I pay about $115 a month. I originally stayed on the plan because they got rid of unlimited plans even though I had to pay full retail for devices which there is no longer a discount for. I went into Verizon a few years back right after they announced that they're bringing back the unlimited plan and they advised me not to switch my plan because I would be essentially deprioritized, or in my view throttled, during high congestion network hours after I reach 22GBs. On average I probably use somewhere between 50 and 100GBs per month mainly because I use my phone as a centralized internet service over buying one for myself at my residence. I am looking at these new unlimited plans and really like some of the perks that they offer such as hotspot, Disney+, unlimited texts and voice etc. The one plan that interests me the mostis the Play More Unlimited plan because it has the Disney+ package and I don't need the 600 GBs cloud. I spoke to a Verizon representative and they said that they no longer would deprioritize me if I were to switch to that plan at a arbitrary usage amount but that if there was high network congestion I could be deprioritized regardless. Verizon has treated me well and has replaced devices throughout the years and overall I'm a very happy customer. What are people's thoughts on whether or not I should let go of this grandfathered plan for these newer options versus staying the course? Edit: I am not so much worried about cost as I am about quality of service.
You should get straight talk $35 a month or so
Don't waste time nickel and diming for $10/mo. Use that time to LC and get a raise of $100k. Problem solved. Serious answer I pay $100 for unlimited on 2 lines. Your deal isn't that good just switch. Verizon sucks near me. There's no downside.
Now a days Unlimited plan (unlimited data and voice) is cheaper with group of 4 lines. I am using AT&T in Atlanta area-enjoying 5G connection ( average speed is about 100 Mbps) . I am using 5G even at home . Each line cost is $40/month including taxes.
Sell your grandfather plan to someone else. People are paying great money for it 3rd party
Switch to Visible. $25/month unlimited on the Verizon network. It's supposed to throttle during peaks, but never seems to 🤷
Throttling will be dependant on how saturated the network is in your area. If the network has plenty of capacity you will never be throttled.
Guess I'm in a lucky area. Hey, Verizon, can you explain how Visible is able to offer that price for unlimited data?
