Restaurant owners are not paying enough to the workers even after charging enormous prices for the food. Workers should fight for the wages with their employers, should not expect anything from customers. Same should be the case with DoorDash, UBER, etc.
Here we go again.. 🙌🏼
Let me tell you something 1) as they rely on tips food prices are lower than what they would have been 2) tipping is optional This was I get cheapest food possible
Tip should be earned. I see absolute trash service and entitlement for tip. I have started tipping based on service now. So much peace of mind.
Anyone who doesn’t think they need to tip should be forced to go work in the service industry for a few months
It’s an Employer/ employee issue and normal customer should not pay the price for it.
I only order pick up, and I almost never tip. I do tip a little when I order a lot, say, for the next 3 days or something, in which case, if my food is $100, then I tip maybe $5. No one will change my mind about tipping when I to go my order, I’m cheap af, which is also why I only “brag” about this anonymously.
Yes, you are cheap but at least you are not trying to rationalize it.
The power is with the customers. If we stop tipping, the industry will be forced to evolve in order to survive.
Be the Gandhi ji of revolution against the tipping op. We need a leader like you
I agree tipping culture is kind of out of hand nowadays but personally I enjoy tipping people. I do it because it’s a nice thing to do and I want to make people happy. I tip what I can afford and that’s the thing that should be changed — stop forcing people to tip an “expected amount” rather just let people tip what they can if they can. Tips also shouldn’t be expected for poor service. You should tip people when they perform their job well, not just because.
I would rather have higher minimum wages than tips. You can always provide feedback to the owner if the service was bad but depending on the mood/generosity of individual customers to make up for low wages doesn’t seem fair to me.

Yes, that would be awesome. But don’t delude yourself that you are making any progress towards that by not tipping or tipping less.
Then what will be a step in the direction of that?
As brutal as it sounds unless laws mandate minimum living wages, it is absolutely the only way to force progress
