Tech companies to avoid as a white guy?
Saw here that recently snap changed how refresher works. Something that made your initial grant to be the only stocks you will get for the first 4 years? Is this true? I have seen mixed comments from people. What changed? Have they stopped paying a lot more stocks than typical faang? #Snap #swe #TC #RSU #Refresher
That’s weird
Snap initial grant is over 3 years. They no longer have stacking grants like FANG, which means assuming the stock price stays constant, compensation increases excluding promo happen only through base increases and discretionary bonus (target 10%). This means your comp doesn't increase as much over that initial grant period but you won't experience a drop in TC after the initial grant runs out. Let's say you're granted $300k of stock for the initial 3 year grant, meaning $100k per year. On your second year you'll get another $100k grant that will start vesting 2 years out so that by the time your initial grant runs out in the third year, the new one will kick in. You need to do the math to see if a potential offer there would net you more money in the long run. From my understanding, Snap offers are top of market so in most cases they will. Of course, you also need to consider growth of the stock during the period.
Refresher will kick in from the 5th year?
2nd year but they vest after the initial grant
As in 4th year? By 4th year you can have refreshers from year 2 and 3?
