Hey everyone, I have received software engineer (full stack) offers from Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, and Walmart. Need help in selecting the best one. Note that the following are their final offers and the role at Credit Suisse and Goldman Sachs is way more interesting than Walmart. Credit Suisse (New York City, NY): Base salary: $130,000 Limited PTO Goldman Sachs (New York City, NY): Base salary: $120,000 Annual bonus: $65,000 Limited PTO Walmart (Sunnyvale, CA): Base salary: $150,000 Stocks: $25,000 (4-year vesting period) Signing bonus: $10,000 Unlimited PTO Is my bonus at GS going to be a one-time thing, or will I get similar annual bonuses every year? Current Location: NJ YOE: 1.5 (0 in US) Current TC: 0 (new grad)
For GS, annual bonus amount from second year will depend on company, division and individual performance.
Thanks for replying man. Do you think negotiating with the recruiter for a higher base will work or do all new employees get 120 (max)?
Don't think they'll entertain any negotiation for new grad. You can try, but do it politely.
Why are offered Walmart stocks so low?
According to levels.fyi, they are offering 25k to everyone for this role, I think I should've asked for more signing bonus.
Okay, didn't know that they don't pay that well.
You get 10% on Walmart that’s a factor
Yeah, true.
Looks like your offer from Walmart is either x4 or x5 level, you should also account for 20% annual target bonus.
Oh yes, forgot to mention that. How has your experience been working for Walmart?
Overall a positive experience. Worked with some good teams and had some of the most supportive managers. Bonus payout has been pretty good the last few years, but can’t use this as an indication of how it will be the next few years. The tech team just recently launch a massive product.
Unlimited PTO is a myth, For a SDE Tech company >>>>>>finance company
GS sucks. 80% tech teams suck. You’ll always be a 2nd class citizen. 80% chance you’re gonna get screwed during bonus season next year.
^^ sure. Better luck next time on cracking gs ..:)
😂 Ive been at GS for 12 years my guy dealing with judgmental assholes like you. Sit the fuck down.
How has your experience been?
While I think this base seems ok for 2 years experience , In general Goldman is notorious for keeping the base very low and keeping variable bonuses high. Remember that year end bonus is never a committed after first year and in most cases if for some reason your manager do not like you it will become zero and your base is only what you will get. Be careful with how you make decision...
Walmart .. you will be second class citizen in investment banks

Goldman seems low base for nyc
That's standard new grad base
Exactly, the project I will be working on at GS is very interesting. I will learn a lot! The only problem is the low base salary, the recruiter said this is the best they can offer to a fresher with just 1.5 YOE.
