12+ years exp. Have been offered senior SE position. They said I don't have relevant experience for a staff engineer role. Offer details 165k base 20% target bonus 15% additonal bonus for the first three years 10k joining bonus No stock options Is the offer decent for my experience? I have a feeling they are lowballing me on the base. Thanks in advance.
Not close to competitive. If you're qualified for staff engineer, T6 at Google will average 580k TC
Which location?
Also is this a game team position? I’m not really in the industry for money but more because I love programming games. Like others have said you can definitely get more avoiding the game industry.
No stock 😵? What did the final offer end up as and did you take it?
Yeah they don’t offer Stock options. They have good yearly bonus.
Sounds like the San Diego location based on salery. they are doing 40% bonuses to some right now.. so you just need to kick ass. I know because that's what I got 2 years in a row
I used to work at PS. Their comp is pretty crappy. Gaming in general will be lower than most tech companies and PS is on the lower end of gaming.
There are some good people working there and it is a really fun industry.. just be prepared to take a pay cut vs tech..
