I’m spending around $1500-$2000 a year overall for my Subaru. How much do you spend on avg? Renting a car seems much cheaper than maintaining one. Insurance, gas and maintenance just add up to a lot. Waste of money smh TC 300K #cars
I am in my 5th year of Subaru. Other than oil changes and routine maintenance, I spend additional on - 1 tire replacement (150$) Windshield replacement (1200$) Battery replacement (800$)
You spent $800 on a battery replacement for a Subaru? Was it made of gold?
They got taken 🍗
I bought my Mustang new in 2021, with extended warranty. Aside from buying a new tire after running over a nail, $0 in maintenance since then.
Just change oil every 6 months. Air Filters you can buy on Amazon and replace yourself. You don’t need new tires unless you’re off roading. You only need them when you’re at 60k miles or so. One big service should be done at every 60k miles at a local shop. Dealers have been ripping you off. They will always say bullshit like need to replace tires, filters, brake fluid, transmission fluid etc. Some of you people are so smart in tech but 0 street smartness to not get swindled
It’s called stealership for a reason
1000 bucks for a repair is pretty average these days. A basic oil change with coupon is about 80 - 100. Sometimes it's cheaper to buy the tools, parts and youtube and diy.
The things in your list should be a pre-req to getting a driving license. Lol
I spend $0, I have a bike. TC: 280k
Get a new car thats a lot for a subaru maintenance
Sounds like you are going to a dealership. Dealers sell cars at break even, or even a loss, and make up for it with obscene repair/maintenance prices. So, hey, thanks for subsidizing my next car purchase. Appreciate it.
BTW for oil change, they let you buy 4 years in advance at very cheap price. Windshield replacement is covered by most insurances. Tires, if durable and not OEM low noise variety, runs for 60k miles. Battery - AAA service is free and only costs about 150 for the battery. If the car is too old or heavily used, may be few other things fall apart. Makes sense to get repaired outside dealership then.
What lmao. Are you saying you lease?
Nope. Bought it with cash. This service I had to replace brake pads. May be dealers charge a lot more than typical auto shops. I should try getting my vehicle serviced elsewhere and check next time
You should visit dealers for two reasons: buying a car and taking care of recalls. That's it.
