Stay at Amazon or move to Microsoft

My Microsoft offer has same comp if you include the bonus and plus there are other benefits but the level is l60

Only reason I'm thinking of switching is because I'm young and I got promoted early at Amazon so the level shouldnt really matter or am I making a dumb decision?

Just interview elsewhere. Don’t go to Microsoft with the same comp and a lower level, at least expect a decent raise. Try FB / Goog.
You don’t want to try to get promoted when you can just interview and get the higher level

Yea that's true but I'm not getting interviews there.. so I figured it would help if I also had Microsoft in my resume

Ask for SDE II, or you should stay for another 3 years and ask for a senior position from Microsoft.

I think SDE2>60. Maybe transfer teams?

Of course level matters. You’ll get shitty SDE 1 work, nobody will take you seriously. Your opinions will not matter, and you will have to prove yourself again to get promoted. Not to mention MSFT hires some return interns at 60 so you’ll essentially be at the same level as college grads in terms of expectation and otherwise

If level and influence don’t matter to you and the job is in the realm you want, go for it. Microsoft is a great place to work. But just know what you’re getting into with 60! 👍🏼

If the offer is the same and you like Amazon, that level is not very important. The network you built and the people’s trust that led to you promoted early is more important. Maybe if you’re excited about the work at Microsoft, I’d do it.

Yes thats the one thing I'm worried about. K really like.my coworkers but I'm really bored of the work and not learning much

No one is excited about the work in Microsoft. Maybe working in Amazon is terrible, but working in Microsoft is only going to be worse. I say it as an ex-Microsoft IC.

You haven't really explained why you want to move. You just defended the leveling they assigned

Mostly want to move to get more valuable experience, don't feel like I'm learning much anymore at Amazon. Of course I could switch teams here but Id rather work at a new company if I'm going to leave

How did you figure out the level? The recruiter wouldn’t even tell me the level, other than the position being SDE-2.

What’s the breakdown of the offer? I wonder how it compares to mine which I assume is L62.

What’s the point of you moving to Microsoft? SDE2 should be higher than L60, it is maybe about L61-63.

I am L60. I will suggest not to join Microsoft at this level if you are SDE2 in Amazon. No one takes you seriously here. SDE2 are values more. There are so many level that till the time you reach L62. You can get promoted in Amazon as SDe3 in the same time
Everyone gives shitty works to SDE
