Need some help evaluating offers - Strategy Manager @ DoorDash vs Product Manager @ Tesla Both in terms of compensation are similar with TC:$150k (2.5 YOE) and both in San Francisco area. I’m pretty early in my career and have had just product experience thus far and I like it. But the strategy route seems interesting as well. Curious on what long term trajectory for roles in strategy and product look like? Would love some advice on the pros and cons! P.S. Ik it’s not all the information you’d need to make a call but any suggestions would help! #offers #product #strategyandaction #tech
Product is better than Strat in tech imo
Thanks, good way to think about it!
Agreed
One is a non tech role other is a tech role
I work at DD - strategy at DD has a lot of influence and power, realistically sometimes even more than product. But it is a non-tech role, and if you want to stay within product then go to Tesla.
That’s the sense I got from DD! Seems like a fun place to be. Do you think it’s easy to move into product in a year of that seems better then? The team was all like ya totally cool but they may just be saying!
All I can say is that I’ll take strategy at doordash over product at doordash anytime. Can’t speak for Tesla.

Do people underestimate E6 role at meta?
Both are good options. For DD, I would say the top management is very solid They focus on improving the business fundamentals and have long term views. New verticals and international expansion are the two key strategies at DD.
The role will be within new verticals, which was what drew me to consider it. I am just worried if I go into it and end up not liking how hard would it be to get back into product.
Ask your HM at DD about your career concern and the flexibility of internal transfer between strategy and product. The answer might be helpful for you to make the decision.
