Looking for a friend, how do I get back in the hardware/ device level programming.. should be easy with IoT boom?
leetcode
That’s how I got my software engineering job, helps for hardware programming too?
Possible but you would start from the bottom
True that’s one of the downsides
I wonder the same thing. Then I see embedded systems/hardware salaries and I go back to writing react code for $$$
I understand the salary factor, but what else would give the pleasure of having built something like this: https://youtu.be/g_ZaioqF1B0 🧐
i agree web dev earns us more money at this moment, but i feel like in order to grow and master engineering fundamental&good practices, I have to go down to low level development.
Side projects and start from the bottom at a new company. Or turn to office politics and get an internal transfer to a hardware team.
Switch to one of the bigger companies like Amazon. You can find teams that are doing interesting low level work.
You might start out building a major part of an IoT device, but as the industry matures, your role will eventually be focused on a tiny part (tuning the sensitivity of a motion sensor for example). The only way to maintain the same scope is to rise to architect/business leader roles. If that sounds appealing to you then go ahead. The pay is obviously less if you stay close to the hw.

Why do want to switch to embedded, most of jobs are in web development, backed, etc

Just like it more personally, kinda sick to be able to see how you physically modified something instead of all the abstraction
