I have a system design interview as part of the loop at a self driving truck company (Torc Robotics). What sort of topics would one practice for this type of system design interview? It seems like a majority of the practice problems out there are for distributed systems which maybe isnโt as relevant in this case.
If it's a c++ related role then I think it will be an object oriented design round. Most of the HRs get confused and mention system design instead of oo design. Practice oo design questions and patterns.
ask about their html5 supercomputer
Over the air software updates. Distributed systems are highly related. Definitely go through systems that tackle updates at high scale. Trucks send out a lot of information during start time and send location updates very often. Think about updating during crash
self driving trucks on freeways? a lot of praying, I would say. ๐
Seriously. Isnโt that like what trains are for?
Train freight takes way longer to load/unload . But yes, also less dangerous. It really depends on the amount of stuff that you want to ship since trains are comparable to cargo ships in terms of volume, and you donโt always need that much volume to ship. One cable train is about the same as one truck load in volume, and trains can carry a looot more. So for the train option to be worth you need at least maybe 10-15 trucks worth of stuff to ship
