During my final round with #Twitter through #TwitterU for IT Apps Engineer, they asked for expected compensation and I blurted out 130 if I end up in SF. I saw π³, and then π» 130 is Glassdoor San Francisco average + confirmed in many YouTube "life at twitter new grad" for Software Engineering. Is IT Apps not in the same $ bracket as Software Engineer?
Too low. Should've said $200k
Is this Amazon humor?
Always ask for more⦠130k is pretty dang low for San Francisco. You are new so you will be surprised at how much money you can make in this industry
Maybe I should've said I'd expect 80k in a cheaper city. They said "it depends where you live what you'd get" a couple times.
Less than 180k and you're fucking yourself over
Is this the new figure now? I just wanted to get started honestly. The team were flexible with locations but I just said the SF figure.
No, IT apps is not the same as SWE
"you're going to be treated like a software engineer here" is what I heard π€·ββοΈ "and you can certainly move to swe after"
If they are actually the same then why would they have different job titles.
Welp I'm starting as SWE some other place now so. I thought both titles have equivalence importance.. I thought it's like an alias for internal tools software engineer
It is not.
Just ask what the range is next time, donβt blurt an answer
π³: $130k? Am I heard it right? S/he meant $130k, not $300k, right? I am going to hire this candidate on the spot.
Even π pays more than 130k. Do you really want to get paid lesser than π?
How long ago since you had contact?
TwitterU program hirings concludes in April. Most of the interviews were in March
