Hello all , I have received an offer from tableau . Could you please help me in evaluating the offer . Also I wanna how good is it to work as a developer at Tableau ? I have seen few posts that ,since the acquisition by Salesforce things have been pretty slow . Base : 150k RSU : 100k/4 Bonus : 10% of base Relocation Bonus : 12.5k YOE : 1 Location : Seattle
That’s a lot
AMTS or MTS? I’d guess MTS as base pushes the top boundary of the band. Good offer.
They mentioned as Level 2 software Engineer, not sure .
Good offer.
Thanks. How is the work culture and career growth for a developer ar Tableau ?
Not in Tableau. Don't know about the org.
Things will get slower . It’s going no where. Lot of big companies are investing in alternative and better versions. Join only if you believe it has (hyper )growth or passionate about that tech/ company
You say that with no sense of irony coming from Teradata? LOL
Pros: - 99% of people here are awesome, helpful and collaborative. - 0% chance of PIP - Product is loved by customers and it’s great to ship features - Stock appreciation has been great (it’s gone up about 200% since I joined in 2018) Cons - Salesforce culture is slowly subsuming Tableau culture. “Trust” now #1 value, so constant obsession with appearance of security (eg 16char passwords). - “Refreshers” now basically non-existent. You’ll likely need to get another job after your initial grant expires. - A lot more bureaucracy now, with defining goals, reviews etc. - Many of the top leaders of Tableau have now left and replaced by new hires or Salesforce critters. - High level of attrition of dev staff given the above (the thinking being that devs are fungible and easily replaced by new hires). - Benefits like healthcare have been seriously impacted. We used to have an amazing Premera “Rolls Royce” plan and now have to choose Aetna/UHC HDHP or PPO plans. - The toolset is complex and slow to work with and learn. Depending on your area this could mean various degrees of frustration. On the plus side it does have some pretty awesome capabilities. As for the offer, it seems on par with what I would expect for an MTS with 1 or 2 YoE. You may be able to get the RSU grant up by as much as 50% <IFF your interview feedback was really good>. I doubt they’ll move on the base. All things considered, it’s still a great place to work, and all else being equal I would prefer it to Amazon, Oracle and others.
