Thank you Uber recruiter. You fucking told me 2 years back that $48.77 was just the beginning for the stock price and if I thought all the growth was "baked into" it then I shouldn't join. Sky was the limit. Bonus? Sky was the limit. "For someone with your level and experience the average bonus paid out was very close to 6 figures.. you just had to exceed expectations (should be easy I thought based on my track record)". Growth/Promo - Sky was the limit. Why don't you join us with a below average base and look at all the other immeasurable part of the TC?? So I did. Well fast forward to today I have lost 40% of my equity value. My bonus last year was <$10K So THIS time when I heard recruiters give me the same pitch about "your level's average at G/Lyft/Aapl is a little low but your bonus potential and equity potential is unlimited" I told those guys to take a hike. Got 2 revised offers which actually look a world apart from what was offered in the beginning. Fuck you Uber recruiter.
All recruiters play this game
Never believe a recruiter for anything that isn't written down.
ding ding
So no verbal negotiations? That’s how they do it nowadays it seems.
Yeet
Not all recruiters fault. Like all the wall st people back 4 years ago, they thought the company was going to grow fast too.
It was my fault. To not understand the importance of a strong base.
What’s a “strong base” for a dev with 10yoe? (Bay Area)
Didn’t they offer shit load of RSUs? Even though stock is drown, I am assuming you are still making a lot ...
2yrs ago they didn't. I had offer from G and U, both were very similar.
Just share the offers dawg!!
It’s all fun and game until stock is not valued as promised :-(
How did you negotiate differently this time around?
Recruiters are responsible for a lot of shit but not for stock market variations
As I always say, you can trust a car salesperson but never a recruiter.
TC bro?
