With all the news this week there has been a lot of discussions in the workplace. The words are supportive, the jokes are meant to be comforting and the happy hours were set lighten the heaviness. But I have never felt more alone. Our manager told our team mtg she was here for us if we needed to talk. I reached out and we set a meeting, but 15 mins into the 30 min she text to say she was still in another mtg. I waited the full 30 minutes and she never came. No responses to my “it’s ok let’s catch up another time” messages. Meanwhile, she was texting supportive responses to the team thread. Im a minority and a woman on a team that is predominantly white and evenly split gender. I am trying not to draw conclusions, but I’m hurt and can’t help but feel excluded because I’m different.
Why say “it’s okay..” when it’s not how you actually feel? At least “ok let’s reschedule because I would like xyz” would be more productive toward your needs. Don’t be afraid to ask for what you want, don’t support behavior you don’t appreciate.
Seek therapy instead ?
Am I missing something? Besides the 50m hack, what news?
What do you want from the manager ? Be an adult and deal with issues , you are not a baby
Entitled millennials yo.
In my experience my worst manager was a female manager. My best was also a female. The bad one always liked the men on the team better. She would try to pretend that she treats me equally but she does not.
Have your other team members been there longer? I know mamagers tend to play favourites with those who have been with the team long (and essentially perform well due to this).

Thank you AAPL and NVDA
What is a evenly split gender? Sorry for my ignorance.
Gender-fluid. You alternate your gender every other day evenly
It means the team is roughly 50% men, 50% women
