TikTok vs Stay at AWS
In Canada. Currently L5 SDE at AWS, offered a 2-1 position at TikTok. Feeling stagnant in my current role but also relatively happy. Slightly scared for TikTok WLB but also hard to turn down that TC. Thoughts? Location: Toronto

Tik Tok will most likely be banned or sold in the next few months. The risk is that you may be back to square 1 looking for another job. I won't suggest joining them now. Let the dust of regulatory process settle. The fact that US elections are so near doesn't help.
It’d be 6 months after the bill is passed, if it ever is, then they have the option to ban or sell. Seems like a fair bit of time to make a lot more cash
You won't see that TC from tiktok in real terms. Few people last the year, they also have complex stock schemes.

unless it's base it doesn't matter. Most of the cash incentives are in a bonus which happens yearly. Bytedance/Tik is pretty shady with how their comp structure works. So probably 20% of that "all cash" offer is going to be performance dependent and in a yearly bonus.
Lol that tik tok is slightly higher than my current Amazon TC of 240k ish. Only concern about tiktok for me is wlb
