Who here owns a gun?
A few months ago there was a lawsuit from people Trump blocked on Twitter saying that Trump's page is a public square and therefore they must be allowed access to it under the first amendment. They won the case and Trump was forced to unblock them: https://www.vox.com/2018/5/23/17385256/trump-twitter-lawsuit-block-users-loser If Trump's Twitter page is a public square which all Americans must be able to access, does this not mean Twitter cannot legally ban any law-abiding American from the website, as doing so would prevent that person from commenting on Trump's page? Therefore, their rules against racism and such are illegal to enforce against Americans?
The court ruled that an official government account was not allowed to exclude anyone from its communications. Trump and everybody else is perfectly entitled to block anyone they want on their personal account when communicating about non-government business, but a public official can not bar a citizen from receiving government communications.
The OP is raising the point that if Twitter bans someone, they’re in effect excluding that person from the Twitter communications of government officials (i.e. Trump). Thus, they are asking the legitimate question of how that can be legal for Twitter if Trump can’t do it.
And to that point anything he tweets is public domain and part of a national record and thus he cannot delete tweets either. This is required by law for the POTUS. Any “written notes” must be archived.
If you believe in a god, pray. This moron will kill us all.
Imagine unironically calling yourself a zoomer and shitposting on blind. 😂😂
Jesus you people are dense. The first amendment only applies to actions taken by the government, not private corps.
If a private corporation is able to block you from what has been legally determined to be a public square, is it not the government's job to rectify that to ensure every law abiding citizen can access it?
In a word, no. Think about it. Your local mayor cannot arbitrarily block you from the town's public square but they have no obligation to bring you to the square. And they absolutely can block you for your behavior. Think before you post.
Why would Trump block someone on Twitter?
Because he's a thin-skinned moron.
Smarter than you.
🙄🤔about wanting the courts to decide on ability to twitter
