I am interviewing with UBER right now, it's a platform team and seems rather new. Since they haven't done massive layoff so I am a bit worried they will do LIFO, any insights about managing people out or PIP possibility? YOE 3.5

You’re fine. Just pass the interview
Uber did do layoffs earlier in the year.
I can't find any info to substantiate this. Definitely don't see anything on layoffs.fyi. Have any info on this?
Uber freight was an official layoff. The rest was done under the guise of performance management so you didn't hear about IT, couldn't have been more than a few percent but definitely spooked a lot of people.
It’s not Amazon - if you get an offer, they want you to stay. I wouldn’t worry about PIP unless you turn out to be the very bottom (aka a bad hire)

100%, there’s no hire to fire. It’s very expensive to hire someone, and it would be incredibly stupid to have them fail without a fair chance
Stay in Microsoft ride out this downturn
I will be honest here they did do layoffs but in the name of PIP. End of last year and earlier this year they PIPed more than 50% of my team and most of them were new hires. As of now everything is fine and they are hiring again but this can happen again so be aware as you will be the first target as a new hire.
are you hiring for platform team to manage internal web portal with managing public clouds via portal ? Yes in the name of PIP
I joined Uber 1 yr ago as Staff. 2 other Staffs joined along with me. We 3 ended up getting the lowest ratings in my team. I barely survived PIP but the other 2 got laid off. All the old timers got the best rating. So, I can certify Uber did hire to fire in my team. I am waiting for new hires in the next year end review to get lower rating than me.
I don’t know your situation but in last couple of years Uber gave many L5b offers to L5a people. Our fixed comp structure forced desperate managers to uplevel candidates so they can offer more TC. I’ve seen it many times during panels.
@Moons I am sure you are L5a at Uber who could not take promo even after multiple attempts.
Yes Uber is hire to fire, did layoff in disguise of pip. ~20% layoff in my team.
With Lyft going down the toilet, Uber will be fine
Is Lyft died?
Lyft is died
