Both countries are having serious problems now. Which one will win in the end? US: 1) inflation 2) recession 3) political polarization 4) wider gaps between rich and poor China: 1) recession too. Economy growth is slowing. 2) stupid 0-Covid policy. Lock down a whole city for 1 case. Very disruptive to peoples life and business. This 0-Covid policy has become a political movement by Xi. You get arrested if you oppose this policy. It’s heartbreaking to see my home country being destroyed by stupid Xi Jinping. Recently, many talents choose to run out to other countries now because they don’t like the 0-Covid policy and they don’t like that Xi can dictate their life. 3) manufacturing jobs are moving to other countries like Vietnam and India. Foreign investment are leaving too. What are your thoughts?
Correction: Manufacturing is NOT moving to India. In my opinion, China should win. America's problems are in its people, chinese problems are in its govt.
Tell me a country that doesn’t have serious problems right now
Democracy wins in the end. While it might not look like right now, the system is fairly self regulatory. However sooner or later all totalitarian systems collapse.
ALL countries are having these problems. Problem is, someone will solve it by creating a war.
Regarding gap between rich and poor - US and China have a similar Gini coefficient, which is a measure of income inequality
I think you missed the main risk for China - demographics. Atm they are only a threat to US due to their large population. However due to low birthrate / immigration their population is in decline and estimated to halve by end of the century. Meanwhile US will continue to grow.
Manufacturing jobs will not leave China soon as you think. All Indian ports combined don’t have the capability of one top 10 ports in China. So even if Indian can make things, they cannot ship them. Electricity is another problem. When we look at more complicated manufacturing such as drugs and electronics, education and experienced workers become bottlenecks too.
This ^, we all lose
People who start wars are the only winners from both sides. We are just pawns.
