What is Uber's policy on RSU vesting if employee leaves before IPO? Do they keep the prorated amount from the grant?
Yeah - are there companies that claw them back? Even we aren't *that* evil.
I read in a Reddit post that pre ipo companies have "Double Trigger Vesting" which means RSU don't vest until company goes IPO or gets acquired. So in some companies if employee leaves before IPO they walk away with nothing.
We have dual vesting triggers, but only the time-based trigger is based on remaining an employee. The liquidity trigger protects you from being taxed on the RSUs until after liquidation, but you don't need to stay at the company.
can you explain the liquidity trigger?
I think Lyft's policy is that if an employee stayed in the company for X years, they have until X years after quitting to keep their RSU and if the company doesn't liquidate within that period, the employee lose their RSUs.
wow that sounds like a bad deal!

Lyft is you have 7 years. its not x years where x is your tenure.
You have 7 years to hope Lyft IPOs, otherwise what... you lose all you worked for?
lol pretty sure this is pretty standard. what's the rsu/excise policy at Airbnb? There have also been liquidity events for employees at Lyft.
