https://www.levels.fyi/offer.html?id=f7f7281b-5a92-4300-8d53-4c5bb6a1855e At first I thought this was including stock appreciation, but Uber stock has fallen, not risen the past few years. So either this data point is fake or Uber pays the best by far now? Even L7s at FAANG don't make anywhere near this much. I get they got stacked refreshers (4 year grant + 2 year grant) but still. This number seems absurd to say the least. TC: 175K salary + stock options #uber
Uber staff is like Google L7 though.
Is it not simply L5b which would be equivalent to Google L6? This person has 10 YOE. Even if this person was given an L7 level offer, an L7 Google offer would amount to around 700K without including stock appreciation (again Uber had none). So this is still nearly twice what the average L7 would be getting.
If you look at the details, it’s an outlier based on performance / mass attrition. The staff engineer has been at Uber for 6 years, and they gave him two additional off grants vesting at 2, 4 years. This only happens as a proactive performance grant. He/She is likely close to Principle (after the title renamings)
I already mentioned that. Even with stacked vesting, I don't see how this adds up to 1 million RSUs per year. Unless all of the additional 2 year grants vested immediately this year? And they got none before that? Is Uber Staff not simply 5b level? Aka L6 at other companies?
This looks like the person entered the information incorrectly, adding RSUs vesting over 4 years as vesting over 1 year. This looks like a mid-high L5b offer.
This looks like apt explanation. I have seen many levels.fyi entry that add 4 yrs stock as 1 Yr accidentally.
That might be it then. As this number even if you include stacking refreshers and 1 level up looks way too good to be true. Thanks.
After looking more closely, they probably entered it wrong. Base looks like 5b. Bonus looks like 5b with decent multiplier. Assuming they have existing stock grants, they could still get 2 additional grants totalling around 1m. 5b with good rating should be around 650-700k TC

Outlier? I know a few sr staff folks at Uber but they don't get this much.
Do you know how much they get? Curious how big the difference is.
