Uber salaries
Met a buddy whose LinkedIn profile says "product lead at Uber". Says he gets a 400k base. Assume that he is not a director. Is that what one should expect? So I assume total comp would be 800k. That's amazing, but also a little suspect. How much should one expect at a senior product manager role or even director role at Uber. Am currently looking and currently negotiating with Google at L7 - 230 base and 600k stock, so 150 a year.

What looks low? My offer or my buddy's offer. How much do you all make. It's crazy. I was working at a smallish startup and was making 190 base and stock that is probably worthless. Honestly the whole startup seems to be a farce if you are not a founder (most startups at least)

Title embellishment is an endemic problem at Uber. I've seen L4 PMs label themselves as a "Product Lead" and EM1's take the title of "Engineering Leader".
But the pay! Seems like pay is almost 1.5x of FAANG. I understand taking a risk since it's still early days but 400k base seems crazy. Speaking of which when will Uber start hiring again?

800k TC sounds improbable except if your buddy is a Sr. Manager (L6) being paid on the high end of the comp band. Uber's recently started hiring again. Might want to check the careers site.
400k base is like sr Dir or vp

Also he’s definitely not a director if he’s putting product lead. Directors will out director in title. Product lead is likely GPM or SPM 2

L7 for PM at google? For bay area, the RSU is low, maybe even outside the band.
