Tldr: found out I'm paid 8k less than someone a grade level below me. Rules are applied unequally between men and women for internal transfers, I've got two and a half months until options vest, but so hard to stay checked in. Wwyd? Just found out that a colleague of mine on my team who started a few months after me at convoy, as an ic4 gets paid $8,000 more than me (an ic5) and was granted roughly the same amount of 'equity' that I was. This individual also has about 5 to 6 years less work experience and also has one less degree than me (not saying that number of degrees matters but when you're coming into a company, and looking at leveling and pay it usually does at our level). I'm also not entirely sure what he's delivered... But I would say that problem lies more on the management of our team and not on him because CX orgs are so disorganized and constantly changing. I have been looking for other roles internally. My manager found out that I was looking and basically said that I couldn't apply for a job until I hit the 9-month mark when I was just two weeks away from hitting it. Apparently he even reached out to the tech recruiter to notify the tech recruiter that this was the policy... The tech recruiter had basically told me that I was good to interview at the 8.5 month mark --so I was given some inaccurate information. Meanwhile, a fellow who started at convoy the exact same day that I did was able to interview for another role within 6 months of joining the company. When I found out about all of this, I straight up wanted to quit. Why are all these dudes getting exceptions to rules? If I'm so valuable to the team that they can't let me interview two weeks before the 9-month mark, and want to hold me hostage in my current role for as long as possible then why can't they compensate me more? I'm in the process of interviewing for another role internally at convoy that I was excited about, but I can't help but be so mentally frustrated that I'm checked out now in my current role (which is really sad, because at one point I really cared a lot and felt like I was a strong contributor). Also, I really have liked Convoy up until recently. I've got about 2-3 more months until I hit the year mark so I'm trying to stick around but I know it's going to be painful to be here when I really am just over this place now. Assuming my compensation doesn't increase substantially, I will leave once I hit the vest date. Convoy talks big about treating male and female employees equally, and hosts these ridiculous happy hours, but clearly there's a disconnect between how men and women are compensated and how rules are applied. What would you folks do if you were in my situation? At this point I'm so checked out that I'm ready to leave, but I also would like to get the options that would come my way in a couple months Also, if any of you non-convoyagers happen to read this, and are looking to hire a TPM or PM, (and work for a company that has better pay parity for men and women) let's talk! <3 TC: base 110k, options 3k vest/yr 🥜 #tech #convoy #salary #tpm Update: started replying back to recruiters on LinkedIn. Agree it's time for me to GTFO.

Already have worked as an engineer in semiconductors... Want to avoid that in the future
Yep, best option is to leave. Not much you can do if your manager is not willing to fight for you.
Take the two months between now and vest to interview externally. Leave after vest
Depending on your YoE you can definitely move to a different company and get a more substantial increase in TC. Transferring internally just feels like copium at this point based on your situation, if you need to go through a full interview loop.
Well I didn't actually apply for the internal role that I'm interviewing for... The hiring manager actually just dmd me on slack asking if I wanted to interview. I've already had one on ones with two out of the three interviewers so it's just a formality it would seem at this point
Hmm, if you got the role already then it could be worth to stick it out and see how it goes. Though if the gender inequality still seems evident at this company it doesn’t bode well for your future prospects there, might be worth looking out.
YOE?
Yes, it's just a matter of do I wait for 2.5 months for options to vest and be mentally struggling to stay engaged or do I just straight up leave before the options vest
Imho wait until the vest period!
Do you already have other offers?
Time to move. You won't get proper compensation at your current gig. I'd lose the woe-is-me mentality and assuming the world's against you because of unchangeable aspects about your person (i.e. gender). It's not going to help you. Pick up a negotiation book and come prepared to negotiate your pay for your offers you receive.
3k in options if vesting are worth how much? Can you increase your salary by more than $12k (3k/3 months) in that time?
Vwyf
What does that mean?
