Considering an L6 offer. Is it true that I should expect a significant cliff at four years? I heard that refreshers are low/none even if you are a strong (but not exceptional) performer?
Base refresher for 6 (swe) is 200k. This multiplies with your performance rating
200/4 = 50k vesting per year pre tax.
Thank you, this is helpful. The refreshers would start at year 3?
What’s the offer?
Yoe, current level, TC details please.
The yearly refresher grant is 200k for meeting expectations, so if your initial grant is bigger than 800k they’ll be a bit of a cliff even if the stock is flat. (That’s assuming you don’t exceed expectations, or get DE (discretionary equity))
Thanks— very helpful
200k/4 years? All E6 get this basically?
For people asking details: L6 @ AMZN, 15 yoe-> M1. Yearly TC of offer is about 520k not counting sign on.
What's TC breakdown?
Ic6? Very few external hiring of ic6 can survive 4 years. So the Cliff after 4 years doesn't matter much. Ask for as much sign on as possible. Most external ic6 left after one year.
It's lower side of E6, you might not see cliff.
How is 520k (excluding sign-on) on the lower side of E6? I figured it's at the median.
My friend got 450k excluding sign on for E5 and 520k is closer to that. Also with average of 200k refresh, there will be no cliff.
@perfy, infra team. He was at Uber and not sure of the level.
Man E6 sounds like the good life.
Are you sure it's 200k for meets at 6. It's much lower see Google, more like 155, but managers increase it slightly
200k for meets at 6 is correct.
Yes, fb e6 ma is 200k.
You get 1/4 of your initial RSU assuming you are reviewed as average and no promotion happens.

Do people underestimate E6 role at meta?
No, that’s not true. The stock is not growing as it used to years back, so your RSUs will not push you up the cliff that much. If you’re really good, they’ll take care of your cliff with DEs.
What’s a DE?
Discretionary Equity which is mostly used as a retention bonus or an extra bonus for those who delivered a substantial impact.
