Women, help me understand why this is inspirational
How many of you have side hustles on upwork and similar platform? What work do you do on it, and what do you think of the platform? Is it good hustle? What's the rate are you charging? #upwork #sidehustle #fiverr #gig #sidejob
Too much work for so little money. Not worth it unless youre in an ultra lcol area
So much time in sending proposals
I also want to get into contracting/freelancing on the side but as others have mentioned you must sell yourself short and spend time writing proposals, setting up calls, etc. Now I’m in search of an agency who can do this stuff for me. Toptal’s application process is supposedly super long but supposedly they are well connected.

I've done UpWork for 3+ years and it's decent if you go in with the right expectations. Took some time to get a good rating and steady stream of work coming in, but now I'm constantly turning down jobs I'm not interested in or don't have time for. I do design and carved out a little niche, nice break from my day to day work. Averaged about 15k/year just picking fun projects. Not life changing money but nice chunk for vacation/hobbies/etc. The 20% fee they take is high, but it's just too damn convenient vs trying to hustle and find my own clients.
How many hours would you say you spend on upwork related work per week? Do you usually do hourly rate or fixed price per project?
Really just depends on the week and what I have going, but maybe 5-10 hours. I prefer fixed price projects as I work pretty fast and they tend to be a better deal. Some hourly projects you feel like you're stretching them out as much as possible.
You should check out https://www.grupa.app. You basically get Tech salaries (Cash & Equity), but for working part-time with lesser-known, but funded startups.
Will take a look! Thanks! Have you had any experience with it?
Yeah - Im on a gig with them at the moment.
It is a great platform for 2nd world countries like Turkey, India, Russia, Poland etc.. They can earn good dollar based money while living in those countries. However, it is a waste of time for someone who lives in the USA.
Better paying they take no commission is @braintrust
Upwork started a new enterprise client freelancer option for its clients so if you qualify you will get really big clients paying really well and braintrust is also really good too
I’ve tried this, ultimately I find it impossible to make a living wage.
