Goldman Sachs folks - can you give me insight into total comp for a VP role in a corporate function? I hear that at banks a VP role is closer to an entry level management rather than a leadership position but wanted to confirm. What does title progression look like at GS? #goldmansachs #totalcomp TC:$250k as a director at AT&T
That’s really helpful. Thanks!
If you are director at AT&T, don’t become VP at GS unless they pay you $400k minimum VP at GS is nothing but broad range starting from individual contributor to manager to director
Can you shed some light on that range, especially on the lower end?
Are you director in technology at at&t ?
Not sure what you mean by corporate function. I'm an software engineer so pardon my ignorance.
Software engineers typically have a higher TC for the same level at most companies which is why I wanted to mention that this is not a technical role. Corporate functions typically include finance, legal, compliance, HR, marketing etc (non revenue generating support orgs). Just looking for an idea on what progressive role structures look like. So for instance at AT&T it goes Manager -> Associate Director -> Director -> Assistant VP -> VP -> Officer. VPs at AT&T have a TC of $500k+ (much more for a technical or sales VP)
I see. Looking at AT&T structure, it seems like VP there is regarded as much higher than VP at GS. At GS VP is like almost an automatic "promotion" when YOE reaches over 5 years. Analyst -> Associate -> VP -> MD -> Partner -> ... -> C level
