Question about women in their 30’s?
Creating a separate thread to track the any progress on this topic for this week. There has be a tremendous response and a ton of useful information posted in the past couple of weeks. We have been constantly trending up week over week in terms of views & comments. Let us continue doing so going in to week #6 (post freeze date). Summary from past few weeks: 1. Google is NOT under a hiring freeze anymore. A freeze by definition is ZERO new offers being extended and that is not the case. We saw offers being generated in some selected orgs since week of 08/15. 2. The above statement does not mean that hiring is back in full swing, in fact far from it. Critical roles are being prioritized and suitable candidates are being moved forward in the process. Open positions pre to post freeze have almost been slashed by 50%. Impacting most of L3/L4 positions.L3 positions seem feasible only in 2023 (with some exceptions) and L4 seem to dwindle down rapidly. Some L5 positions have been cut as well. Even some L6 positions have been cut in the last couple of weeks. 3. We did see more critical/prioritized roles (SWE in Android, YouTube, Core Platform, Ads, etc.) come out of freeze and offers were extended in the week of 09/05/22. Even some roles in GCP service side (Infrastructure, Databases, etc.) Things have started to move with GCP as well, but only service/engineering related roles (SWE, EM,PM, TPM, etc.) Nothing on the sales side so far. Nobody has posted any progress on Customer Engineer (CE), Architects, Specialist architects, account managers, TAMs, etc. 4. The earliest start dates still seem to be dated in Q4. (It doesn't matter as much as we are already in mid September now) 5. Keep in touch with your RCs every week and remind them of your existence, try to stand out as the positions/candidates ratio is dramatically shifted. We have seen open positions being cut from 4900 or so to 2600 until now. The difference could be you vs. ten other candidates that is put forth for a TM. 6. Not directly related, but FED's semi-hawkish stand still spurs big recession fears and thereby impacts the overall economic outlook and the the anticipated HC. 7. Most RCs know a lot less than the collective wisdom we gather from threads like this, but being in touch with RC is beneficial especially if you have not had a TM or back in the line cuz the role that you were previously matched is gone. 8. Last but not the least, as frustrating as the current situation is... no point in flaring out on RCs, leadership at Google, etc. I rather have them think this through than HIRE in a rush only to FIRE after. Plus, nobody is stopping anyone from seeking other opportunities. It would be great to know if anyone (regardless of level, role, etc.) are receiving offers after the freeze kicked in and please post any useful updates provided by your recruiters. Just to standardize the format of information sharing, I urge everyone to follow this format: My Situation: Role/Level: Principal Architect (L7) https://careers.google.com/jobs/results/89731263679603398-principal-architect-google-cloud/ Team & Location: GCP (Bay area) Last stage cleared: HC, TM done. Stuck in last stages of compensation negotiation when freeze started. Next step: Hope the GCP sales roles freeze lifts and position exists to continue to offer letter stage. No concrete updates from RC other than hoping to hearing something soon. Please refer here for this history of this thread. Passed HC and role got canceled since the freeze. L3 google US. Any L3’s moved forward after that?
Canceled or paused? The HC approval should be valid for 12 months?
Any Design management roles being filled? Not seeing many PD offers recently moving forward
L5 in GCP. Moved through team match this week and on to HC now. 🤞
Good luck! Which location?
SWE or non-SWE?
How difficult is to apply for L3 roles and get offers now?
Completely not worth it right now. Don't get yourself voluntarily stuck in this situation.. Some orgs aren't even hiring L3 anymore this year. Just wait until 2023 - it isn't so far off at this point
Why wait until 2023? You can get an offer now with a starting date in 2023?
I truly appreciate these updates. Thank you.
L5 SWE had verbal offer day before freeze, role got de-prioritized, have TM with a new team in Android org this coming week.
Remote
Thank you for the organised updates
u da man op hope u ain’t past ur cliff while waitin
Anyone interviewing for Partner or Customer engineer roles, are they pretty much frozen?
Nothing here yet
My RC told me last week that they are still going through reprio. Hopefully should hear something back this week. I have already been TM and skipped HC. Waiting to start the offer stage.
I never got a call from my recruiting for the initial screening this month
