Hi, I am scheduled for Karat interview for WayFair for next week.. I would appreciate any suggestions about coding exercises and topics that need to cover to questions outside of coding exercises.
I had 4-5 design questions based on scenarios then 2 coding challenges within 30-40 mins
They are mad, they don’t look candidates approach, simply looks for final output.
Karat is crazy. They don’t know how to do interviews.
I have similar experience which is making me nervous.. I had interview for better. I solved the problem but questions they asked after interview was all over place
I went through a few karat interviews myself. It wasn't too great, had some random questions about core cs concepts, architecture concepts, oops... I mean I understand the need to make sure your candidate has good basics but who uses all parts of CS your have learned at school?
It’s a toss up depending on the interviewer it seems. Just remember you have a redo if necessary.
Read blind reviews first
Mine was a rapid round System Design followed by LC easy/medium questions. Also, they keep asking questions till the time is out, so keep grinding
Best way to prepare is not to prepare. I've interviewed 3 times with them, and each time has been wildly different
For me they asked 5 system design questions which they rushed, and then 1 leet code easy question - a 2D array and a string problem.
I had a rapid fire round of system design questions that I found pretty easy...understand things like eventual consistency, how to spot bottlenecks, etc. The coding portion didn’t go well. I got very flustered when the karat interface gave me some odd compile errors and had a hard time recovering. Finally figured out what I needed to do to solve the problem with 5 minutes left and typed as fast as I could. Got 7 of the 8 tests to pass with about 30 seconds left on the clock. Left no time for talking about optimizations or do another question.
As others said i had my karat interview recently for wayfair there 5 design questions which are very vague and you need to answer in 15-20 minutes then one problem on array which was easy second one was hard and i couldnt write the code for second one. Surprisingly i got a reject based on design questions. For coding problems just check leetcode discuss section you would get one of those for sure. Overall karat is like a robotic interview you ask any question and they wouldnt have any answer or their answer does not help you.
Could you share a sample of the design questions?
Its been long time i dont remember but questions will be very vague

Don't give yourself an unfair advantage...
I understand your take.. my point this is just helps me in preparing for interview as each company looks at various aspect of computer science. information shared in this chat would same as leet code or career cup.. I get your point but advantage which I get won’t be unfair so that any other candidates won’t have access to it.
Your last sentence says that you're getting an unfair advantage
