Wayfair offer evaluation (Canada)

Got a Wayfair L2 MLE offer in Canada 220K CAD all cash, the WF team seems to be working at interesting problems. I currently leave in the west cost and the position will require reallocation to Toronto which will be more expensive than where I currently live. I work for Yelp where wlb is not bad but still don't see career growth for me here, current TC 148K (120 base + 28 RSU). I am hesitant about two things: first: I read lot of the negative sentiments about WF culture, and I don't want to play politics I want to get job done and get money. second: I am at revenue driving unit @ yelp and less likely to be laid off if layoffs happen. on the other hand, the business outlook for WF doesn't look great and I am not sure if I am putting myself at higher risk of layoff by this jump.

Yoe? Also, wayfair is known for giving offers based on premium stock price which means not at market rate but 25-35% more than the current stock price which is unfair.

Man idk how you all aren't happy with such high pays, seriously I have lived making only 45 k not that I don't want to make 65k 70 k even that sounds so good time, but oh well more money more expenses

Like I always see posts people asking for more money even after $100-$200k plus salaries

Can you give more details on the team you are joining? I suspect it might be one of the teams I work with. Feel free to DM me the hiring manager's name. FWIW, most of the MLEs I know are pretty happy with their jobs. Don't worry about all the negative posts on Blind, I think Blind tends to attract people who like to gripe. Layoffs are of course a possibility anywhere these days, but I think there is a lot of scrutiny on hiring reqs now, so it is likely you are being hired to a position that someone was able to justify as necessary despite cost concerns, so that gives you some layoff security.

Wayfair politics are not nearly as bad as other large companies. The reason is because Niraj and Steve still own over 70% of the voting shares - the company is a dictatorship. The negative sentiments come from people who have left. It’s like reading BBB for fair reviews on retailers. No one who’s happy leaves a review. Layoffs are not likely in the engineering units. The last round eliminated all of the projects the company didn’t seem essential. Not much left to cut.

This is a very decent offer for L2 MLE in Toronto. You probably have negotiated already.

Has your offer been rescinded?
