Why I Find Free Palestine Inspiring
They said their levels match google but claimed L6 was ‘Senior Staff’ Base: $260k RSU: $450k vesting evenly over 3 years, 1 year cliff Sign On: $25k Refreshers: 25% of original grant No bonus = TC: $410k YOE: 10 This seems like a very solid offer. Some concern with the company and the IPO. Any thoughts?
Why does wework need engineers?
I’m also baffled by this.
They need to scale their on demand reservations and recommendations, and querying systems. It’s not a complex highly scaled system.
Yoe?

Damn with this TC I shouldve never fucked up my chance with them 1 year ago 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Haha explain more. What did you pass up and why. What was your offer? Position?
Interviewing with them kind of sucked for a non eng role. They put me through so many hoops and projects and their feedback upon rejection was “you’re over qualified” aka “we want to pay someone poorly for this role and you know your worth”
Why no bonus??
Yea kind of sucks.. especially with paper money RSU. The recruiter response was “there’s talk about instituting a bonus but it’s just minor comments. There’s absolutely no guarantee on anything yet”
260K base? Is this normal nowadays for 10 yoe?
Not from what I’ve seen... I’ve very rarely seen base this high. Which is one of the appeals for me even if the IPO thing is questionable
No chance of ipo, keep those paper rsu
Yea... that’s exactly my worry. Over valued, can’t withstand a recession. What’s your opinion though, would you take it and cross your fingers? Assuming any other option you maybe had was $200k base with $100k RSU per year ($300kTC) at a public company.
Are you saying this is a L6 offer? How did they decide to place you at that level?
They said L6 Staff Engineer yes. They decide just like every company decides what level to place an candidate. Through previous YOE, demonstration of skills, leetcode performance, and system design walkthroughs. This is a WeWork L6, I’ll be the first to admit this is probably not equivalent to Google L6 for example.
Why are they hiring when they just laid off 300 employees?? https://techcrunch.com/2019/03/01/wework-confirms-it-has-let-go-of-300-employees/
All companies do dis
Damn that worries me. Why lay off and hire at the same time. Although... I did hear in another thread there’s a rumor they cut the lowest 10% of performers. No idea if it’s true
Vesting over 3 years? Not 4?
Yea I asked to verify. They said they prefer 3 for whatever reason. Maybe to look more attractive with their paper money with little hope of IPOing?
Also see if they do a double bearing clause aka you need time and IPO to get your shares. Otherwise negotiate for time base vest only if possible
How many LC did u do?
100. But mainly the conversations were regarding system design, scaling, past experience and product suggestions.
