I recently was hired by google at L6. I’ve been an IC my whole career, various embedded systems projects. 14 years doing that kind of low level/system programming. The interview was pretty straightforward, honestly. Nothing like the horror stories you hear around. As far as TC goes, this post is the best - https://us.teamblind.com/s/jYcrij5X - I used it for offer negotiation and it came out great. Their first offer was at the L6 10th percentile or so. I said “no” and they came back at 75th percentile. Long story short, hiring TC 470k.
Thanks. What work / responsibility is expected of you now that you are at Google? Is it tech lead role?
I’m just a plebeian... but I’m new and don’t know anything about anything right now. I expect long term it to be mostly self directed stuff - look at the project and see what’s wrong, pick something and fix it, etc.
