📱 If you comment please mention your mobile carrier. I’m currently on tmobile looking to get a iPhone 12. Currently on a family plan under my parents and planning on switching to my own plan with tmobile to trade in my iphone 8 for a iphone 12 128gb “free” but really its $830 in credit over 30 months. Good deal?
Work pays for the service so I don't mind paying for the phone outright
How does the free phone deal work?
Trade in old phone and get new phone in “credits” where if you cancel your plan before 24-30 months you have to pay remaining balance on phone
Sounds like they just want to lock you in. Do you really need a new phone?
bad deal, stick with your parents plan and just pay them per month. the cheapest TMobile single plan is $60. or if you switch to TMobile prepaid they have$25/mo, but your data gets cut off after 5gb
I want to be financially on my own. I don’t want to be associated with parents at all financially
I keep all my old phones and buy a new one outright every 1-2 yrs lol
What are you going to do with all the old phones?
At some point wipe and donate probably. Just didn't know how to really get all my data off of them for privacy before getting rid of them
Comcast mobile is pretty awesome. Cheap and Verizon network. I just upgrade phones when I have to. They are dying or won’t keep up. And usually not to the latest flagship model.
I keep a decent Android phone until it dies or is lost, and go with a pay-as-you-go plan for $10/month with unlimited calling and texting, 1 GB data. Depends what you want in a phone, I use mine for chatting with friends, browsing, maps, etc, and do the streaming at home where I have WiFi. If you value always having the latest model, great, go for it if you can afford it. Otherwise, there's no need, the changes are very incremental and if you stay 1-2 models behind you always see nice improvements without having to pay $$$ for it.
Why u wanna switch out of family plan?
It’s my parents plan. I want to be financially on my own entirely.
