Just curious about 2000-2001 Did everyone including top firm candidates (yahoo/microsoft/cisco) have immense trouble finding jobs?
Cisco was the top company then.
No one on blind is that old ๐
Microsoft was the FANG Cisco was the Tesla. Juniper, Lucent etc were Lucid, Rivian Intel was the NVIDIA eBay was Shopify Any .com was a Crypto firm Finding a job was extremely difficult. Visa holders were in deep trouble. B2B stood for Back 2 Bangalore and B2C was Back 2 Chennai. What else you would like to know ๐?
What of P2P?
Pip 2 pip !
Yes, but it was worst for those with the least experience and outside tech hubs (Bay Area & Boston; Seattle was basically just Microsoft at the time).
Are you predicting another bubble incoming soon?
Microsoft continued to grow quickly in 2000-2001 and in 2009, even though there was a sizable layoff and restructuring, it continued hiring in many divisions.
It did lose a lot of market cap, but almost everyone did. Microsoft, Cisco, Oracle, Sun, and IBM made a lot of money outfitting dot-coms.
Traffic on 101 was a breeze even in rush hour. Big tech was the place to ride out the storm in safety. VC money evaporated overnight and a bunch of small bullshit companies were toast. A bunch of people calling themselves engineers because they knew a little html got a reality check. Companies like Cisco and MS had cash and went shopping for primo leftovers. But they werenโt smart enough to buy Amazon.
