I get messages from recruiters from various firms for jobs at places like Citadel, Jane Street and other similar firms but it’s hard to tell which recruiters actually have a relationship with the company and have placed people there or are just trying to find someone to get commission from. Any suggestions on which recruiting firms to trust? Feel free to DM me recruiters as well if you had a good experience with one. Edit: This is for SWE jobs, not trading. #finance #recruiting #hft
Check out Saragossa.
Did you have a good experience with them?
They connected me to a good number of the big HFT firms and I did a phone screen with some, but I ultimately didn't want to relocate to NYC so I just stopped entertaining opportunities.
They all suck
Options Group got me my job (not at HRT)
Hi. Can I ping you for more details?
Is there any reason you wouldn’t just directly apply? I don’t think they grease the wheels any more than a cold submission from our site. At best, recruiters are for firms you haven’t heard of
I’m under the impression that referrals tend to not do much but recruiters are much more likely to guarantee interviews. I’d rather rely on a recruiter than cold apply.
IMO your app is much more likely to be seen when submitted by a good (that’s the important part) recruiter
Fiverr
Just apply directly. Got most of HFT interview by just applying online
I'm currently going to an onsite with Jane Street, my recruiter is from Oxford Consulting, he seems okay
Some recruiters I've worked with and liked are at these firms: - Objective Paradigm - Coda Search - Evolve Group In general I second the comments that recruiters are generally not to be trusted. I think it's important to: - talk with multiple recruiters and then pick a few to work with - have a watermarked draft resume that you share initially, and share the final one later (some recruiters will try to blast your resume around as soon as they get it) - say you'll give consent to being submitted somewhere when you're ready Overall I do think it's advantageous to work with recruiters because: - they'll sell you to the client firm, which helps odds of getting into the interview process - they'll guide you about what to do throughout the interview process
I worked with one of those and I agree they were likable. Thanks for the insight!
They all suck
