@SpaceX recruiter reached our about a role, so, I started looking at their postings on LinkedIn and wow, all the salaries seem to be 10%-30% lower than other comparable companies/roles. Really disappointing because SpaceX interests me as a company. I had a preliminary call with the recruiter who reached out and he gave me the classic "my equity has already doubled in a year so TC will be very competitive in the future" lol. Is SpaceX really able to hire and retain top talent at these salaries? Don't get me wrong, I would love to work in the space race and all... but for that comp?? #SpaceX #tech
Because you’re paid in company mission, baby
And Elon' body odour.
Yes it’s that low, and you’ve already eluded to how they can still hire: they prey on the people that want to work on cool outer spacey stuff. It’s a total sweatshop too - long grueling hours.
“I work on space stuff!”
Same with Tesla. You are offered more Koolaid to balance the low TC. It’s pretty much the same story for all of Elon’s companies.
What do you mean by low? Can you give specifics? According to levels, SpaceX pays more for E1/E2/E3 than Rivian does. In my experience the TC is a bit lower than FAANG in the Seattle area but on par with Microsoft. 170k as E1, 215k as E2.
SpaceX equity is actually a very good non orthogonal bet to hold. Can 10x.
?
Because flying to space is cool. For some people that's worth more than $$$.
Lol SpaceX compensation strategy lays heavily in their equity structure, their base comp may not lead the market but their total comp and future performance does
Yeah my base is only 140 but my TC is 350, we've grown 7x in last 5 years
Layoffs haven’t hit Rivian yet eh
