Blind would give you the impression that $200-300k TC is normal, but salary estimates on Glassdoor are like $140k with 10 years of experience. Is this because people on blind are including the value of stock options and whatnot too? (I'm currently in undergrad, doing internships, so I have no anchor for how much a real job should pay. How much should I expect, and how much can I ask for, when I negotiate offers after graduation?)
If you’re at Google or Facebook, expect standard offer to be around 160k with some signing bonus on top (around 20k). Those numbers you cite are normal for L4 and lower L5, so not for a few years out of school typically. Glassdoor is out of date and who knows why they’re off.
Interesting. Wonder what glassdoor folks here make of that.
What are L4 and L5?
TC is just that, total compensation typically including salary, stocks, options, commuting benefits, health reimbursement programs, education reimbursement, retirement programs like 401k matching, health savings accounts, etc
On Blind TC mostly means salary + stock + bonus
Also I'd say expect "normal" TC on blind to be for someone with anywhere from 3-10+ yoe
Additionally, folks that have been around a FANG for more than a few years have seen their RSU increase in value due to the stock boom. So folks that jump in earlier while stock price is lower is going to have a much higher RSU valuation today compared to 3 years ago. Also, folks that have been around longer will see stock refreshes that bump their income higher which would not be reflected in Glassdoor notes that may capture comp at the start of a job
Glassdoor does have TC but has super old data and who knows what they filter or what their time series processing is. I’ve seen it off by anywhere from 10-70k TC
It's a conspiracy lol they working with the companies
those are normal total comp figures at decently paying tech companies (i.e. top tech companies). your average, run of the mill dev is going to work for an average paying company and doing average work also Glassdoor is shit.. they don't clean their data to keep it updated or consistent, literally such a terrible site.
Because Glassdoor is an average over a longer period of time. Compensation packages have been skyrocketing the last few years... finally starting to stabilize.
People lie.
Most People don’t lie. I have friends that work at FANG and those are legit TCs. The main reason is because their RSUs have increased a lot and also refreshers.
Take a look at recent h1b filings from here: http://h1bdata.info for extra data points
That website doesn’t list RSUs though or bonus and sign on bonus.
I know. Just to see if at least reported base is in line with this.
because of TC vs Base
Glassdoor includes "other compensation"
