I don't understand tipping rideshare drivers. I am already paying hefty ride cost plus taxes. Why should I tip on top of that? Why can't uber and lyft pay a fare share to their drivers? They pay high salaries to their SWEs and CEOs. Why not their drivers? TC: 220k #uber #lyft #rideshare #tip #tipflation.
Drivers only get about 20% if what you pay for the ride!
Because Uber and Lyft pay them 40-50% of the fare ONLY. I had a ride for which I paid $58 and the driver only received $26. They get paid peanuts when you add fuel and toll costs. I feel the gig economy is like a leech. Sucking money of common people. And hey the Tech salaries are an outcome of this money sucking only.
Tipping is an American thing. Get out of America if you don’t want to tip.
Make me.
I think Uber started out without tips. But then, Americans kept paying cash tips and demanding that they add tips to the app.
Tipping in general is a stupid concept and should make sense only in small % in case of exceptional service. Having said that tipping is ingrained in US economy like a unwanted side-effect and business use it to artifically keep the list price of services low & none of them dare to increase the price and removing tipping becuase it would make them look costly. So tip the driver too, becuase that is significant part of their income becuase of this stupid list price psychology.
If you don’t tip, then companies will pass through the cost increase drivers pay on customers. Please tip,so that I can get lover price while not tipping. PS. I actually tip and I feel stupid that I’m doing it. PPS. If AV will ever pickup, that’s when tipping gets obsolete.
Now we know you will never qualify for a CFO position.
This post made me realize how much many I’ve wasted on tips that doesn’t improve quality of my life.
