Why do families communicate so poorly
Blizzard has been notoriously known for underpaying their employees. What does this acquisition mean for a changed pay structure, if at all? Will they derive the job family structure that Microsoft has? And what about the benefits? Specifically their military leave benefits. Blizzard is incredibly lacking by comparison to Microsoft's.
No planned changes to compensation as of right now. Things may change in the future.
Microsoft usually doesn’t come in and change an org too much after acquisition. Certain “redundant” jobs (HR, marketing etc.) may be removed or moved to HQ. However don’t expect too many changes to compensation and pay structure. Lots of job candidates are still willing to pay the passion tax, and Blizzard will continue to take advantage of that.
Short term ( <1 year) don't expect any significant changes outside of formalities (standardizing HR practices and tools). Over the long-term, there may well be changes, especially for more advanced technical roles. But it's unlikely Microsoft will surrender the passion tax game developers pay.
What about RTO or remote options? Do you think it’ll be better for full remote?
I was told my team would remain full remote
@xpla43, I thought all of blizzard was RTO now? Is the standard 3d/wk or 5?
Does that mean le sserafim will perform at msft hq?
Likely very little, save for Health Insurance and PTO. If any real change is to happen, it’ll be well past the year mark.
