Working@Spotify as an EM or SWE reviews?

Considering an offer from Spotify for EM role based in Stockholm/London. Was wondering how it is working at Spotify tech teams. I have heard it’s more relaxed than FAANG on the cost of low comp but you learn a lot. Would love to hear some cons as well as I only got to know pros from recruiters(obviously) TC: 105£ YOE: 9

Off topic, but how is your pay so low at FB?

I am moving from another EU country too posssiblt London for this role. My current role is not in a tech position but as an analytics manager . Also I am aware that Spotify is low on TC compared to FAANG

This seems low for analytics manager at FAANG..

What's your level at FB? Current TC seems low right?

M0 at Facebook. Which is kind of getting terminal as no engineering team wants to hire an M0. Everyone either want an M1 or M2. I have approached like 10 managers for internal transfer before looking out

Whats the difference between M0, M1 and M2

Facebook hgeosaw12 Aug 1, 2021

Any engineering manager tile that you see at Facebook career site is almost always an M1 or M2, a lot of non tech orgs do M0 which is equivalent to senior leads. So you do all the work of an M1 as an M0 in non tech orgs( Ops) for example but still cannot move to tech orgs since the levels cannot change as a result of internal transfer.

I think Spotify is a great place to work for many reasons. But since you are looking for cons. My friend recently joined as an EM and said it was calmer than all their previous jobs. I think it tends to be more slow moving than many companies, especially FANGs. Helps WLB but could maybe be perceived as boring if you are used to higher tempo. I don’t think there is more politics than anywhere else I’ve worked. Actually less. But I think it’s highly dependent on which department you work in.

Thanks a lot for this! Really appreciate it! Can you highlight some of the reasons you mentioned in the first sentence. Would love to get your perspective on this
