Why I Find Free Palestine Inspiring
Assume EM takes over Twitter and rules with iron fist. Attrition will likely spike due to anti-musk sentiment. According to Blind employees are already interviewing elsewhere (but who on Blind isn’t LOL). Employees with dissenting voices might be culled. Will EM risk even more attrition by canceling remote work and forcing RTO? Immediate or wait for dust to settle? Any articles on his thoughts on remote work or experiences from his other companies? On one hand he seems huge advocate for in person but on other hand he jokes about turning SF office to homeless shelter because employees are at home. Will engineers be treated differently than non engineers?
DM for pinterest
LOL 🙏
When is Elon buying Pinterest and putting it out of its misery
How much cnn garbage did you consume over the years
My CNN+ service abruptly just ended, thank god!
Hey now, Twitter... Too soon.
Musk is good fr twitter, i believe. Changes will be positive. Being a private company has so much advantages. Earlier, u have to please incompetent, clueless board of directors with no business and customer knowledge who don't even have twitter accounts. Now, u just have to answer to ELON who has made so many successful buisnesses, he has the most engagement on twitter. Yes he is controversial and slightly pushy, but he is always thinking about optimising and improving things for betterment of humanity unlike ZUCK who sells our Data for dollars and is the most unethical buisnessman in history of mankind. Engineering and product side is usally fine. Its the management side that takes a hit. U should be excited to solve new problem like bot detectors, spam detectors, hate speech detector, edit functionality etc to work on.
I agree with what you’ve said and think EM would bring lots of positives. But I’m also a remote engineer so wondering if my days are numbered.
I don’t think “free speech” Elon will care about hate speech detection.
But how does this affect remote? Will all be fired?
Only a small percentage of the engineers can immediately pick up offers elsewhere. Of those, only a percentage will leave because of Musk (who wouldn't have left anyways for better TC elsewhere). You could count on one hand the number of people who actually moved to Canada in 2017 after thousands of people threatened to go. The woke moderators who arbitrarily hand out bans because they don't like someone's dissenting opinion will be gone. They're the ones who will all leave anyways.
From what I’ve heard twitter is an easy place to work and make bank. I suspect 99% of the complainers will stay on because they love theirselves more than virtue signaling. Elon is notorious for firing WFH and contractors. He’s went as far as to pull the plug on VPN before. And he’s right. Steve Jobs was right too. True innovation often occurs by chance. Water cooler conversations and placing engineers forcing departments to interact is hugely beneficial.
Does SpaceX have WFH?
No official WFH at SpaceX. Rockets, satellites, and Starlink can’t be made at home. The engineers need to be as close to the problem as possible. Twitter is different as you don’t have a physical product. I suspect the rank and file will be mostly fine. Elon loathes management. I could see him gutting a lot of managers.
Don't you still have Putin on platform?
Yes, but not Trump because “orange man bad” rule
Putin has 0 organic social media presence. Accounts you might refer to aren’t verified and deny any link upon request.
If he doesn’t force return to office, it sounds like he has different plans for your HQ 😁
Please stop joking. This is not fun for Twitter employees whose livelihoods are on the line
How does that affect Twitter employee livelihoods ?
Are you guys still extending offer?
As of Friday, yes. My team is doubling in size this quarter and has more headcount available.
I had on-site last week. No result yet. Not sure what’s gonna happening next week. I guess they could pause all offer?
99% will still stay and work as usual. They only bark around on blind. It wont have much effect. You are still thinking way ahead into the future which may happen or may not. Getting all remote workers back to office is least of EM’s worries.
That bc last sentence there makes me breathe a sigh of relief
Not to mention the influx of talent that will apply if he takes over. I saw some woke employees already resigning so it’s good they’re getting the cleanup started themselves.
It will have very little impact.
Just speculating? Why no impact?
He doesn't have time to micromanage. He will propose grand lines of changes and then backpedal when he will see users fleeing.
