Why I Find Free Palestine Inspiring
I am considering applying for Google Seattle and would like to know more about Google Maps team. I am a Software Engineer with several years of experience in Amazon and now in Oracle BMC Cloud, mostly in backend. Am an IC4 in oracle right now. What projects do Seattle teams work on? Is it a big behemoth of a slow moving org or there are interesting initiatives as well. Anything else which would be good to know. TIA
I thought Google Maps team was in Mountain View.
You're misinformed. It's a huge team.
Mostly on directions backend. Other stuff too.
Thanks. Can you tell what are the other teams apart from directions? And is all of directions here or split?
Haven't followed what's going on in maps for a while, I can't answer. Ask a recruiter.
Just interviewed at Google Seattle a few days ago and asked the same thing. Apparently the majority of the maps team is here: most of the front end (the android app and some of the iOS app) and most of the directions back end team are here. The "core map data team" is in Mountain View, and there are some other teams in New York and Sydney working on other stuff. Looks like a good team to be on in Seattle as it has critical mass here.
Thank you
Hey join Lyft, we always looking for people to work on maps.
I should give that a try too, I suppose.
