This is how it should have been all along.
You can pay me for my data Facebook
They do, you get unlimited messaging, video chat, social networking, and photo/video storage :) You can even opt out of personalize ads and get worse ads with no hit to your payment.
Ha ha. Keep them to yourself.
Absolutely. Hope android copies it asap
Android is owned by Google, Google makes almost all of their money from ads, Google isn't going to shoot doubleclick effectiveness in the foot especially as apple just made them more valuable :)
That's a good point.
Great move for Apple, terrible for small/medium businesses. Apple will drastically increase their advertising and have a great leg up until either they are slapped with anti trust or the next platform replaces them. Bummer for small and medium businesses but those seem fairly doomed at the moment anyway. Privacy isn't related here, an anonymous attribution identifier doesn't violate user privacy it's just a good excuse for Apple to pretend only they should be allowed to control advertising just like they control the app store. Super exciting times!
Why should a regular user should care about your attribution. Shovel it.
They care because when ads are relevant they are valuable to you. We like learning about new things that we are interested in. Without the personalization they become like tc ads which are not relevant to a large portion of the audience.
All those crying and who voted for advertisers are from Facebook. đ€©
Nice. Make every business aware itâs hard to monetize iOS users, and pour more resources on android experience.
Lol sour grapes
But people will buy iOS devices
Someone has to pay for that lunch. It's either ads or paying a subscription cost for every app. Go figure.
Subscription is fine and fare.
First of, Apple folks, get off your high horse. You value privacy while you intimidate smaller companies with lawsuits whose logo is a fruit with arguments that sound like people are dumb to not understand the difference between apple and a pear. Your design thinking went too far. Facebook folks, youâll be fine. You have many smart folks to build a machine learning algorithm to stitch these users across apps while losing some precision. Itâs a small price to pay for the laser-targeting done for so many years. Privacy freaks are anyways not worth showing custom advertising to. The more exposed to personalized ads they are the more theyâll unite to beat your business model to death (but political ads cannot and should not be personalized or targeted). The irony is these are the same people who have no idea how Netflix works, and will mindlessly scroll âRecommeded items for youâ on Amazon and make Bejezos a Trillionaire!
If Facebook was not abusing data collection, I donât think anyone would have a problem. I donât need to be followed by allbirds shoes ads even today, just because I installed adidas app on my phone few months back. Now Facebook is shedding crocodile tears, talking about supporting small and medium scale businesses. If only they cared about people and not exploited them, everyone would be behind Facebook to support. Letâs forget about Apple for argument sake. You can go to any article on internet, and look into the comments. You will understand how people perceive about Facebook.
Showing people ads is exploiting? If your search history is racist, so if a product shows you stuff you wanna see thatâs exploiting? Not censoring the president for what he said, because corporations are not bigger than the president, thatâs exploiting? Get off your moral high horse. FB is a product that is built to be a mirror of yourself. Donât break the mirror if what you see is just ugly.
I donât understand what facebook is trying to say here, users are going to be alerted asking permission to use IDFA to track them across apps to provide them with personalized ads based on cross app activity. But if user does not want to see personalized ads do not share IDFA option will be selected. Shouldnât the user get to choose what he / she wants to see ? Why is FB insisting on showing personalized ads to users who donât want to see personalized ads ? If users are really interested in personalized ads and are willing to share identifiers they have ability to do so by just clicking yes.
And Facebook is shedding crocodile tears that, they are guardians of small and medium size businesses. They think people are dumb not to recognize that.
Facebook is upset that they have to get user permission to track their behavior whereas in previous iOS versions this was not a thing. Naturally this will affect their primary source of revenue: Ads.
