I got an offer for E5, no numbers yet. I'm excited BUT I'm really concerned about WLB at FB. I don't like working on weekends. I don't like working more than 40 hours. Preferably I like to be part of a team that doesn't demand my blood, sweat, and tears. Are all software eng teams at FB very demanding? Would I be able to find a 35-40 hour work week team? I value money as I'm saving up for FIRE but I value my mental sanity and wlb more than anything else. Is FB not the right company for this mindset?#fb #wlb
Wlb is nice in many teams. I work like 10 hours per week and get EE. Some weeks I do work 50-60 hours mostly in June and December.
This is kind of answer I'm looking for. Can you let me know what are some of those teams?
Sorry, no :)
I’d be more concerned about working at FB. Shady company screwed so many people already.
I was in a similar situation just a while ago so happy to pay forward. Wlb can be okay depending on team but come here with your eyes wide open. Fb is not a place to chill. The system is setup tomake you constantly work. 6 month perfs with 3month check-ins, peerpressure with teammates constantly moving blazing fast. Most teams move at a rapid pace. If you are looking for 40 hrs or less, you have two options. 1 learn fast by spending more time for first half or two in a good team. Then you can dial down to 40. 2 pursue a different opportunity if you have alternatives.
Are you happy funga with the job at FB? How's your WLB? And how's work life at FB?
To be honest, it can be stressful at times. My team and manager are nice so that makes a lot of difference. My wlb is okay, but that's because I choose to do so. I try to close my laptop and timebox my work unlike others, but that's not a winning strategy here. I can see a lot of folks working round the clock. Don't get me wrong, It's a great environment for the right kind of person who is looking to pour their heart and soul and get rewarded for it. But if you are looking for a place to just do some work and do other things, it might come down to the team. Just make sure you do a lot of due diligence during bootcamp or team selection.
What's your yoe?

Don't join if you're worried about WLB. FB is not a place for coasters!
Thanks for the input, did you work at FB before Apple? Can you shed more light. I have a non engg friend who worked at FB and she loved it and would often come home during afternoons to chill. Is wlb team dependent?
I mean since when working 40hr a week are being coasters?
